The starting point
The brand in this case study is one we own and operate, a cannabis seed business that has been around for years. Every number below is real, pulled straight from its Google Search Console.
For roughly nine years, its search traffic never moved. About 50 clicks and 600 to 800 impressions a day, every day, with no real change. All of that traffic was a leftover of the early-2010s social media boom and a good reputation in the community. Nobody had ever done a day of SEO on it.
What we actually did
Starting in July 2025, we sat down and learned SEO from zero, then applied the fundamentals consistently. No tricks, no paid ads, no "AI SEO" gimmicks. Just the basics, done properly and kept up:
- Published a lot of genuinely useful content instead of leaving the site as a bare storefront.
- Built out city and state pages so the brand could show up for location-based searches.
- Added real, personal stories from years inside the industry, the kind of writing only an operator can produce.
- Earned backlinks to build authority over time.
That is the entire playbook. The reason it worked is not that it is clever. It is that almost no cannabis brand actually does it, and definitely not consistently.
Why this matters for your brand
Most cannabis SEO pitches come from agencies that read about the industry. This one comes from an operator who grew his own brand with the exact methods we would use on yours. We learned on our own traffic and our own money before ever charging a client, and the results are sitting in a Search Console account we are happy to walk you through.
If a brand that sat flat for nine years can reach page one and 85,800 clicks in sixteen months on the fundamentals alone, the question for your brand is not whether SEO works. It is whether anyone is doing it for you.
